About
In the 1940’s, a small red brick church building in Mt. Pleasant, PA on Mt. Pleasant Road was abandoned. A God-fearing businessman, Mr. John H. Pritts, solicited the support of three other men to purchase the property.
An American Sunday School Union missionary began conducting classes on Sunday afternoons. In answer to the prayers of Mr. Pritts, the Lord led William Hoffman to became the pastor in 1953.
In 1960, Mt. Carmel Community Church became an official participating church in the Faith Bible Conference which continues to this day. Three churches join together several times each year to be blessed/edified by other Bible preachers and enjoy Christian fellowship. In 1962, the annual Missions Conference was established, which also continues.
The original church name was Mount Carmel Union Church, but in 1963, it was incorporated as Mount Carmel Community Church. A new building and foyer were added to the original building in 1970.
Mt. Carmel Christian School was founded in 1974. In 1981, construction began on the school building and gymnasium. Seven years later, almost eight acres were added to the property which included the soccer field.
When Pastor Hoffman retired in 1997, Carlos Galvan became the pastor and served through 2001. The church called Pastor Rick Fox to serve in 2002, and he is currently the pastor.
